Introduction

We would like to introduce you prof. Florent Parmentier from Centre for Political Research at Sciences Po Paris.

Prof. Florent Parmentier will present the European geopolitics of health and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Health is about culture, environment and public policy. But the Covid-19 crisis has enlightened the fact that health is also about geopolitics. The propagation of the virus, the race for the vaccine, the role of international organization (US retreat from WHO) or international aides and strategic narratives illustrate this fact. Yet, the crisis was also about controlling the population, increasing the speed of research or ensuring its health sovereignty. In this perspective, analyzing the role of AI in health is fundamental to understand the role and specificities of Europe in the international arena, at a time when the European Commission claims to be “a geopolitical Commission”.
